He is all ways with me if not by my side then in my heart. He has brought me so much joy I wished there were more guys like him. So I started searching the web to find out what breed he was. He looked like a golden retriever but he didn't meet the breed standard. So I kept on looking and found out that golden retrievers come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors.</FONT></div> <div>  Still wondering if all golden retrievers were this special or is he just this unique. Then I ran across a phone number for the <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#0000FF" FACE="Arial" ><A HREF="http://www.ncgoldenretrieverrescu.org/ " TARGET="_top" TITLE="http://www.ncgoldenretrieverrescu.org/ "><U>Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue</U></A></FONT> and decided to volunteer fostering and shuttling. What better way to get to know golden retrievers? That was in '98.</div> <div> <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial" >  In '99 I fostered 12 dogs. Out of those 12 dogs there were a pair of litter mates ( </FONT><A HREF="id14.htm" TARGET="_top" TITLE="Kellie"><U>Kellie</U></A> <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial" >and</FONT> <A HREF="id13.htm" TARGET="_top" TITLE="Buster"><U>Buster</U></A><FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial" > ) nobody would take both they would adopted one or the other. They had spent the first three years of their life together and I could not split them up . So I adopted them in May of '99.</FONT></div> <div> <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial" >  So far to date I have fostered 17 dogs. In June of 2000 a backyard breeder became ill and some friends of his talked him into giving up nine of his dogs. I was asked to foster one of them (</FONT> <A HREF="id17.htm" TARGET="_top" TITLE="Peewee"><U>Peewee</U></A> <FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial" >). After much love and small daily improvement in him I felt that the best place for him and me was to stay with us, so we adopted him in July of that year. </FONT></div> <div> Then in August of 2000 a call came into the Info line of a special situation that a gentle and quiet Lab mix named<A HREF="id4.htm" TARGET="_top" TITLE="Kurt"><U> </U></A><FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#0000FF" FACE="Arial" ><A HREF="id4.htm" TARGET="_top" TITLE="Kurt"><U>Kurt</U></A><A HREF="id4.htm" TARGET="_top" TITLE="Kurt"><U> </U></A></FONT>who was in need to be rescued from an abusive and potential life-threatening situation. Kurt was examined and it was determined that he was blind from birth. Kurt was moved from foster home to foster home before he came to stay me. After a year with me Kurt had some interested in him but for one reason or another none of the homes were right for him. I then decided that Kurt held a special place in our home and our hearts.
